A meeting of HBL PSL governing council was held on 14th November, chaired by Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf .All 6 franchises with PCB officials were represented and had a healthy discussion about PSL9 edition’s operational and logistic matter and draft of HBL PSL 2024 which is to be scheduled on mid of December after the conclusion of National T20 Cup .
Foreign countries under consideration for hosting PSL 9 matches
According to sources, UAE and South Africa are likely to host the initial matches of PSL due to elections in Pakistan. The general elections in Pakistan are set to take place on February 8 after the announcement from the Election Commission earlier this month.The exact commencement of PSL remains unconfirmed owing to this election, awaiting government approval for final confirmation.
Franchises participating in the PSL and media broadcasters express a strong desire for Pakistan to host all matches.The decision to potentially shift the initial matches to South Africa and the UAE aims to guarantee a seamless start to the league while maintaining the safety and uninterrupted flow of the tournament.
PSL 2024 opening date
PSL 9 edition was set to start from February 8 and March 24, 2024 .But around the same time general elections are set to take place in Pakistan .In today’s meeting chaired by Chairman PCB , it was unanimously agreed that exact dates for HBL PSL 9 will be announced after concerning with the government of Pakistan.Franchises also urged PCB to accelerate the process for the sale of PSL Media Rights.
